This year, the graduating class of the 13th Virginia Conservation Police Law Enforcement Basic Training Academy was invited to join the Virginia State Police (VSP) graduating recruit class in their traditional, ceremonial run the day before graduation. The run goes from the Virginia War Memorial to the Virginia Capitol.

In previous years, the Governor has met them inside the Capitol building and presented the class with their hat pins. On Aug. 22, Virginia’s Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security, Terrance C. Cole, presented the hat pins to the VSP class and a ceremonial coin marking the occasion to the DWR recruit class along with Colonel Gary T. Settle from the Virginia State Police.
