The Virginia Trout Slam challenge was launched in the spring of 2019, which is a challenge to anglers to catch all three species of trout (Brook, Brown, and Rainbow) all in the same day. To date we have had over 300 anglers complete the challenge, some of which have completed it multiple times. The challenge continues as our stocking season begins October 1st. The trout slam is starting to gain some popularity among our trout anglers and we are enthralled by the stories shared by various constituents (see the most recent article in Virginia Wildlife Magazine). We look forward to continuing to promote the challenge and have numerous content pieces and marketing strategies that will be released in the coming months. Please help us spread the word.
DWRs Inaugural Run for the Wild!
More than 400 runners joined us on July 17, 18, & 19, 2020 to help support our mission to keep Virginia’s wild places wild. They came from all over the state—they even came from different parts of the country—but they all came together with a shared purpose, to Run for the Wild! Each of their names are proudly listed below as being part of this inaugural event.
