| Notice: | Appalachian Power will be conducting a temporary drawdown of Buck Reservoir to install an anchor for a new log boom at the Buck Reservoir. Beginning the morning of Monday, November 17, 2025, the elevation of Buck Reservoir will be dropped approximately four feet per day for two days. The drawdown will lower the lake elevation from 2003.4 feet to about 1995 feet, which will make the Buck Portage unusable. Upon completion of the anchor installation, the reservoir will be raised to the normal pool elevation at a rate based upon inflow. Note that during the drawdown of the Buck reservoir the last take out point is at the Byllesby canoe portage take out, and the next downstream put-in point is at Ivanhoe. Please plan your recreational activities on the New River accordingly and feel free to forward this notification to others for their awareness. | ||||||
