DWR is raffling off an exclusive opportunity to join biologists on Banding Day, where you’ll get up close with the peregrine falcon chicks of the Richmond Falcon Cam as they receive identification bands.
Banding plays a crucial role in tracking migration, monitoring survival rates, and protecting peregrine falcon populations. This unique experience offers a behind-the-scenes look at conservation in action—an unforgettable moment for nature advocates and bird lovers alike!

Participation in the Falcon Banding experiences is limited to individuals 18 years of age or older. Selected participants must be available on the scheduled Banding Day, currently set for Friday, May 22 with Tuesday, May 26 designated as a backup date.
Please note that all dates are subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR). Additionally, due to the unpredictable nature of wildlife behavior and development, there is no guarantee that hatched falcon chicks will reach banding age.
