K9 Bailey

Breed: Labrador Retriever
Handler: CPO Jim Patrillo
Duties: Human-Tracking, Wildlife Detection, Evidence Recover, and Educational Programs

Bailey was born on February 6, 2017. Bailey was partnered with Officer Patrillo and joined the K9 unit in September of 2017.  Bailey was chosen over dozens of other K9 candidates because of her high energy level and strong play drive.  Bailey and Officer Patrillo received extensive training and graduated from the Indiana K9 Natural Resources Protection Program in May of 2018.  Bailey’s specialized law enforcement duties include searching for missing persons and wanted subjects, locating illegally taken fish and wildlife, evidence recovery, and participating in educational programs.  Bailey also assists other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies by locating evidence in wooded or remote areas. When Bailey is not patrolling the Commonwealth, she lives with Officer Patrillo and his family.  Bailey was donated to the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources by the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation.  Bailey’s dog food is currently donated by Tractor Supply Co. in Rockville Va., and her tracking collar was donated by Bass Pro Shops in Ashland Va.  If you would like to donate to the DWR K9 Program please contact the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation at:
