Media Advisory: 14th Natural Resources Basic Law Enforcement Academy Graduation
Richmond, VA — Please join the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) and the Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC) in celebrating the upcoming graduation of the 14th Natural Resources Basic Law Enforcement Academy.
The first ever combined class will graduate on Sept. 12, 2025, and consists of 13 DWR recruits and four VMRC recruits that have trained together since March. After graduation, the new officers will complete field training with their respective agencies.

“Please help us celebrate these new officers as they begin their careers protecting Virginians, visitors, and the Commonwealth’s treasured natural resources,” said DWR Colonel John Cobb. “The partnerships and teamwork fostered during this academy will serve them well as they stand side-by-side working for Virginia in the future.”
“The Virginia Marine Police Division is excited for the new marine police officers as they graduate the Natural Resources Basic Law Enforcement Academy,” said Virginia Marine Police Colonel Matthew Rogers. “The culmination of the long and grueling academy signifies the end of training and the beginning of a new chapter in their journeys.”
