Venison Mincemeat


1 lb.ground deer, elk or moose meat
2 lb.apples, peeled, cored and chopped
¼ lb.butter or margarine
2 cupwhite sugar
2 cuppacked brown sugar
8 oz.raisins
5 oz.currants
1-½ cupsweet, fresh cider
½ cupapple cider vinegar
2 teaspoonsalt
2 teaspoonnutmeg
2 teaspoonground cloves
3 teaspooncinnamon
2 teaspoonmace
3 tablespoonbrandy

How to Prepare

Combine all ingredients, except brandy, in a large, deep kettle and boil slowly, uncovered, for 2 hours. After mixture cools , add brandy. Pour mincemeat into jars or plastic containers and freeze until ready to use. (Makes 2 quarts or 2 pies)
