2026–2027 Wildlife Regulations Public Input Period

Please offer your ideas on changes to hunting, trapping, or other wildlife regulations that you would like to see for the 2027–2028 seasons. We are interested in understanding the values and concerns behind your recommended changes to our hunting, trapping, and wildlife laws. This information will help the Department determine the best course of action to address potential regulation changes. Comments will be accepted until November 18, 2026. All information submitted, to include contact information, will become public record and will be subject to public release via Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act. Please see DWR’s Freedom of Information Rights and Responsibilities page for more information. Your comments on regulatory matters that you submit here will be provided to DWR staff and to the members of the Board of Wildlife Resources. Your comments will be taken into consideration as DWR staff prepares its recommendations to present to the Board. Submissions may be processed using AI-assisted tools to assist DWR staff in organizing, summarizing, and analyzing public comments. No personal information will be given to the AI system.
