Woody’s Pond

Woody’s Pond (Franklin County Recreation Park Pond) is a small pond, one acre in size, located within the Franklin County Recreation Park in Rocky Mount, Virginia. The park and pond are owned and operated by the County of Franklin. The pond is part of the recreation complex located on Sontag Road just outside the Town of Rocky Mount, Virginia. The park offers many types of recreational activities and fishing in the ponds is just one of the many ways to recreate here. The pond provides freshwater fishing in a safe, family-friendly environment. The pond is stocked with trout and part of DWR’s Youth-Only Stock Trout Waters Program. It also has a decent population of catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill black crappie and redear sunfish.

Anglers can catch largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish and trout (seasonal) in Woody’s Pond. Bank fishing is available around most of the pond. All fish caught must be released, except for trout (youth only, 15 years and younger, April 1–June 15).
