The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) invites the archery and conservation community to participate in the 2025 DWR Archery Open. This inaugural competition will take place Saturday, January 11, 2025 in Richmond, Virginia and will feature opportunities for youth and adult level competitors. Event proceeds will contribute to connecting people to conservation.

What is the venue like?

The Richmond Raceway Exhibit Hall is an indoor 50,000 square-foot facility that will feature up to 55 targets, allowing 220 potential archers to compete during each flight. The DWR Archery Open will also host a Conservation Exhibit Hall that will feature archery and outdoor equipment retailers, wildlife and conservation exhibits, and more!

What is the schedule for the event?

  • Friday, January 10th: Registration will be open from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Richmond Raceway Exhibit Hall
  • Saturday, January 11th: Practice Halls open at 7:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, January 11th: Flight Times: 8:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, January 11th: Awards will be at ~8:00 p.m.

Where do I park and check in?

Free parking will be available in front of the Exhibit Hall. Please follow all directional signage. Archers will need to check in at the registration desk located in the lobby of the main Exhibit Hall. You will receive your giveaways and valuable tournament information upon check-in.

Will youth and adult archers compete together?

Youth divisions will be on a separate range but will be shooting right alongside adult archers! Our goal is to give young archers a chance to compete in their respective class right alongside their mentors to see what their hard work and dedication can get them. Will there be practice ranges available?

Practice ranges are included with your registration cost.

Will there be prizes awarded?

Awards and prizes will be based on registration and sponsorships.

How will scoring work?

We will be using electronic scoring as well as paper score cards. More information will be provided by email at a later date.
