Update on the Falcon Chick (7/2)
We continue to coordinate with the Wildlife Center of Virginia (WCV) on the health and status of the Richmond falcon chick. As of yesterday evening, the rehabbers who have been exercising the bird report that the chick, while flying well from a high perch, is still not fully able to get lift off the ground to fly up to a high perch. Because of this, the chick would run the risk of becoming grounded again if released at this point. WCV personnel will continue working with the bird until she overcomes these challenges and can be safely released.
