Properties Enrolled for Elk Viewing Only

In addition to the CF Highlands Vansant property, more than 3,000 acres of other private lands are enrolled to provide elk viewing opportunities. In order to protect these amazing opportunities to view elk, and to honor our agreements with private landowners, access to these properties is restricted. Public access is only provided during managed (guided) elk tours. These elk viewing tours are available at various times throughout the year. The tours provide wonderful opportunities to view and photograph elk, other wildlife and beautiful mountain scenery in Buchanan County. Make plans to participate in a scheduled wildlife viewing tour by visiting Elk Tours - Breaks Interstate Park and Elk Viewing Tours - DWR.

Prohibited Activities: Trespass is prohibited on these properties, except for registered participants during a scheduled public elk tour.

Properties Enrolled for Elk Hunting Only

In addition to the CF Highlands Breaks and CF Highlands Vansant properties, more than 3,000 acres of other private lands are enrolled to provide elk hunting opportunities in the Elk Management Zone (EMZ) which includes Buchanan, Dickenson, and Wise Counties. Because elk hunting in the EMZ is currently limited to the number of hunters randomly drawn in the Elk License Lottery and Elk Conservation License Program raffle, access to these properties is restricted. Hunters who are successful in the elk license lottery or Elk Conservation License Program raffle will receive maps and other information about these properties during the elk hunt orientation process.

Prohibited Activities: Trespass is prohibited on these properties, except for licensed elk hunters and their party when participating in pre-approved scouting activities or pre-approved hunting.
